I started doing septic system educational seminars almost
10 years ago and I soon learned something; although septic systems are
an engineering marvel (a simple soil based system can treat wastewater
better than a multimillion dollar treatment facility...huge) talking
about septic systems is boring.
However having worked in broadcasting for a short time I realized that if you want to reach people you need to make it not only informative but entertaining as well. And that is what I try to do...I inject a fair amount of humor into this subject and the positive comments I get from people that attend these sessions show it; "You certainly have an art in making a rather unmentionable subject extremely interesting, informative, and even humorous." and "The program you presented was outstanding. It contained so much new information, and it was amazing how much the audience just wanted to hear more and more." On Saturday May 10th 2008 from 1:00PM - 5:00PM at the Mahopac Public Library there will be a septic seminar for homeowners in the New York east of Hudson watershed area (including Lake Mahopac, Kirk Lake, Lake Casse, Middle Branch Reservoir, etc). If you are going to be in the area you will want to attend, it'll be a hoot. And by the way, they have cash to help homeowners upgrade their systems if needed. Check it out at http://lakemahopac.org/html/lake_seminar.html Hey, it's a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it. |
